Is your teen ready to be the next American Idol?

Let me tell you what I know about the show.

It debuted on June 11, 2002, and it has since become one of the most popular shows on television. The show seeks to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nationwide auditions.

The outcomes of the later stages of this competition are determined by public voting by phone. The format features four judges who give critiques of the contestants' performances.

Okay, so we're clear on the shows purpose?

      Let's do it!

This is what you will need: Choose what works for your type of party and budget.

      Entryway

You may want to make an American Idol sign and hang it in the doorway of the room where the party is going to be or at the front door.

Also at the front door you can have a life size cut-out of host Ryan Seacrest.

If you'd like, a fun idea is to hand out press passes that say:

      Welcome to American Idol

      Hosted by Ryan Seacrest

and starring your next American Idol...(Your teen's name)

Your place cards can be ballots, if your child will be competing for the spot, put all the contestant's names on the ballot, if not, every box should be your teens name!

If you will be having a buffet, highly recommended, put the ballots out on a table with a sign that says, vote for your next Idol here!

Decorations for the American Idol Theme

In order to do this theme justice, you have to have American Idol Party Supplies., No really, you do!

      • Plates, cups, napkins, forks, spoons, knives -If you can find plates that look like records, they go over very well, otherwise go with a music theme!
      • Napkins - American Idol or with something related to music.
      • Balloons
      • Signs or Banners
      • cutouts of Ryan, Paula, Simon and Randy.
      • party food
      • American Idol cake

      Party Favors

      • Personalized CD's for each guest can be your party Favors. Have your teen make these, they will really have a great time choosing the songs!

      • inflatable microphones

      • Prepare some cutouts of Simon, Paula, and Randy. Just blow up pictures of their faces and glue on to cardboard to cut them out. Add a Popsicle stick so the guests can hold them in front of their faces.

      The Stage

You will need a stage and if possible, and a spotlight or disco light. A sign hanging as a backdrop is always a winner! ...especially If you will be doing some sort of competition or singing karaoke!

And of course you will need a karaoke machine!" There are many types so only get what you need for your party. Here are a few that get high marks.
