Over the last few years, scavenger hunts have made a comeback! We always have kids from the neighborhood knocking on our door in search of a paper clip, a magnet, a straw or some other items and it really fun to help them out! You can hear them laughing and having a great time. And what's really great, it gets them outside!

that are, well, pretty gross and spooky Halloween music, and don't forget the scary movies.
But the most fun will be had is during the scavenger hunt!
Trying to remember how to plan a scavenger hunt? Fear not, my friend. It's easy!
The first step in planning a Halloween scavenger hunt is to pick a Halloween party theme. Some examples would be things like:
Ghost
Vampire
Pumpkin
Mummy
Witch
Fall
So, let's say you decide to have vampire as your theme. You need to make a list that is all related to vampires. So, you would have things on the list like cross, stake, and ketchup (blood) etc. But remember, themes can make it really hard to create a good list.
You could also combine themes or not bother with a theme at all. This will make it much easier.

Step two is to choose teams. the number of teams you have will depend on how many party guests you have. We usually try to keep teams around ten or under.
Then have the teams choose a team name related to Halloween.
Step three (optional) is Alert the Neighborhood! Depending on where you live, it might be a good idea to let the neighbors know about the scavenger hunt. You don't want anyone calling the cops!
Step four is Supply a Halloween Bag for all their loot. Give each team some type of sack or bag to put in the items as they are found.
It's fun to have them design their own according to what their team name is or what theme you have chosen.
Step five is to Supply Flashlights
Give out flashlights with fresh batteries to each team member. This will make it much easier for them to navigate and help assure their safety. Look for inexpensive ones in the Halloween department at your local discount stores.
Step six - Don't forget to take pictures!
Give each team a disposable camera and tell them you need at least 5 pictures as part of the list. Have specific items that are hard to bring back, such as a scarecrow or huge pumpkin.
Also, it's fun to get team pictures, you can give copies to each team member as a party favor!
Step seven - Have prizes for the winning team! You could have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and a grand prize or just a prize for the winning team...your choice.
It is fun to give gag gifts for the other teams. This way everybody wins something.
That's it! That is all there is to having a Halloween scavenger hunt. So, get out there and have fun!Oops, don't forget the
