Planning a party for a teen can be stressful to say the least. It seems like when teens plan parties, it can go one of two ways. either every detail has to be perfect, or it may mean the party is totally unplanned except for soda, chips and pizza...but that works too.

After all, they have to deal with a lot of stuff, so it can be very helpful to have some fun activities available, even if it's just to ease the pain a bit.

So we are asking you for your help.

Teen parties should be fun and sometimes it's all about just hanging out and not having a plan, but if things don't flow smoothly, or worse yet, you find that awkward silence filling the room, you will probably be glad you took the time to have a plan B.

Why games?

First of all, they are a really great way to break the ice, and they are fun if you choose the right ones for the group. You wouldn't want to have board games for serious video gamers and choosing ones that don't fit the age of the guests can be even more of a disaster than not having any at all.

So how do you decide what would be best?

  • Determine the personality of the group. What do they have in common? What activities, hobbies, or interests to they have?
  • What is the age range of the guests? You wouldn't choose the same games for thirteen year old guests as you would for eighteen year old's.
  • Do you want to have several small groups playing games or have something that you can play in teams like Pictionary?
  • How much room is available to play?
  • Do you need special equipment, electrical outlets, etc?
  • Are there other ideas that may work out better?
  • Have a few options available just in case...

If you threw a great teen party and had some awesome activities, let me know...and everyone else who is looking for fun things to do.

Tell us about:
